Taylor Fawcett, Resident Sound Guru
TAYLOR FAWCETT is a versatile singer and multi-instrumentalist with experience across a variety of genres. Taylor’s “commanding romantic tenor” (gigcity.ca) is regularly heard as a featured soloist with symphony orchestras, opera companies, and musical theatre companies. Recent operatic roles include Parpignol in La Boheme and Desi in Indians on Vacation (Edmonton Opera), The Lover in Il Tabarro (Pacific Opera Victoria), Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, and Beppe in I Pagliacci (Pop Goes the Opera!). Operetta and Musical Theatre roles include Frederic in Pirates of Penzance (ECHO Players), Tony in West Side Story (Festival Players), and Pirelli in Sweeny Todd (Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre). Taylor’s orchestral performances as featured tenor soloist include a tour of Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Mass in C-minor, Requiem, and Solemn Vespers, and Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil (Vespers).
Taylor’s musical career also includes engagements as a session vocalist in studio recordings and live engagements, lending supporting vocals to The Tenors, leading vocals to performances with Six Minute Warning and Tenore, and supporting vocals and bass guitar to the Tanner Olsen Band.
Taylor’s diverse experience and expertise culminate in VOLARE TENORS, “Canada’s fastest growing ‘popera’ group”, in which Taylor arranges, produces, and performs. Engaged by Global TV, Edmonton Opera, The Arden Theatre, Grindstone Theatre, Opera NUOVA and others, VOLARE remains constantly active.
Relishing in both live performance and studio recording, Taylor runs a home studio which he utilizes for his session engagements and production/mixing/recording clients, particularly vocalists, where Taylor can employ his experience to help singers capture their very best performances in the vocal booth.
Taylor graduated from the University of Victoria with a Masters in Music in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of acclaimed Canadian tenor Benjamin Butterfield.
